NORWALK, CONN., Thursday, September 19, 2019 – American Family Care (AFC) is proud to announce that we been approved as a contract network provider with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Eligible veterans can now receive treatment at AFC Urgent Care in Norwalk offering extended hours without an appointment.
The VA urgent care benefit covers treatment of nonemergency symptoms such as flu-like symptoms, coughs and colds, wheezing, sprains, sore throats, painful urination, bumps and bruises, ear pain, and mild skin irritations.
Also covered are diagnostic services including X-rays, some lab testing, and vaccines when required as part of their treatment. Flu shots are also covered. The 2018 VA Mission Act’s urgent care benefit is aimed to bring Veterans greater choice and access to more convenient, high-quality care. When using the urgent care benefit, veterans must go to a provider in VA’s network. Upon arrival, veterans must state that they are using their VA urgent care benefit.
