Radiology / X-ray Technologist

Radiology / X-ray Technologist – FT/PT (Norwalk, CT)

Objective:
*To perform all diagnostic x-rays and assist in the care of patients.
*Greet and register patients and handle front office administrative tasks.

Reports to: Center Administrator / Physician on Duty

Medical Responsibilities and tasks including but not limited to:
– Operates radiology / x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.
– Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.
– Positions patients utilizing immobilization devices.
– Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
– Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties
– Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
– Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.
– Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
-The Xray Tech will also be involved in patient care conducting tests and splinting and strapping
-Assist physician with patient care when requested
-Ensure each room is cleaned after each patient encounter
-Restock medical supplies

Front Desk Responsibilities and tasks including but not limited to:
-Greet and register patients
-Verify insurance eligibility
-Collect copays from patients
-Assist in obtaining pre-authorizations when necessary
-Assist nursing staff in the performance of triaging newly registered patients
-Direct patients to available examination rooms and ensure rooms are set up based on patient
initial complaint
-Perform general office cleanup at end of day or end of shift

Qualifications
Required Job Qualifications include:
– Graduate of an accredited program for Radiographers.
– ARRT Certification.
– Current Connecticut licensure or permit to practice medical imaging.
– Able to adapt to different physician styles and needs
– Minimum of 3 months experience post-graduation working as a licensed X-Ray Technologist
– Basic understanding of digital x-ray services
– Understanding of the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA and OSHA
– Current Certification in Basic Life Support.
– Phlebotomy is a plus.

-Warm, friendly attitude with excellent patient interaction skills
-Excellent verbal and communication skills, able to handle different and difficult situations
-Able to multi-task and comfortable working independently

-Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
-Always proactive and takes initiative; always has a positive outlook in life
-Professional appearance is important
-Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
-Bilingual is a plus

*Assist physicians in overall patient care, including phlebotomy, lab duties and triaging
*Greet and register patients and handle front office administrative tasks

Reports to: Physician on Duty / Center Administrator

Medical Responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Assist physicians in patient care including:
– Triaging newly registered patients
– Escort patient to room
– Take vital signs
– Phlebotomy, specimen handling, conduct tests (CBC, CMP, Urinalysis, Rapid Strep/Flu, Glucose(finger), mono) splinting/strapping and administering immunizations.
– Document patient information (Including detailed information for Workers Comp and No Fault visits) in EMR
– Assist physician in every facet of patient care
– Discharge patients from room with instructions
– Clean exam rooms
– Ensure patient flow is speedy and organized
– Inventory supplies, replenish supplies when received
– Assist in maintaining lab and medical equipment
